Start your online study, deepen your knowledge and skills, and become a certified MRP Trainer within a year. You decide how far you want to take your study!

The Inner Mind Institute’s Mindfulness Teacher Training lasts three years, during which you will learn all about mindfulness step by step and how you can transfer your knowledge to your future course participants or even your own students.

After the first year, you can already professionally guide the two introductory courses EMIC1 – The Four Foundations of Mindfulness and EMIC2 – Mindfulness in Everyday Life. Once you pass your exam, you are an officially certified MRP Trainer. Then, you decide whether you want to continue with the second and third year. Ultimately, you can continue your study until you become an MRP Master and possess an extensive toolbox with which you can teach your students everything about mindfulness from A to Z.

Master Niels, founder of the IMI, teaches you the first 3 basic mindfulness techniques

You start your Mindfulness Teacher Training online and learn through a practical self-study program. Throughout your studies, you will be supervised by one of our experienced MRP Teachers or Masters, who will assist you in deepening your theoretical knowledge and mastering the latest and most effective mindfulness techniques. In the latter part of your first year, you will learn how to effectively transfer your newfound knowledge to your future students, giving you a strong foundation to become a successful mindfulness teacher.

Our Mindfulness Teacher Training is a comprehensive program that provides a unique and in-depth approach to mindfulness practice and teaching. It goes beyond other well-known training programs such as MBSR and MBCT, offering a deeper level of personal development, the potential to reach enlightenment, and the opportunity to become a better skilled & more complete mindfulness teacher. So whether you are an ambitious beginner or an experienced mindfulness practitioner, this Mindfulness Teacher Training is an interesting choice!

About the Mindfulness Teacher Training

During your Mindfulness Teacher Training, you will first learn to master different mindfulness techniques and the underlying theories. In addition, you will learn to apply these techniques and transfer your skills and knowledge to the students you guide during the pre-MRP Introductory Courses. When you are ready, you will continue studying your MRPs in the following years.

What will you learn during the first year of the Teacher Training?

In the first year of the Teacher Training, students are introduced to the content and philosophy behind the Mind Retreat Program (MRP). This provides a strong foundation for their future work as an MRP Trainer. Additionally, students will learn to master and teach the two 7-week introductory mindfulness courses EMIC1 and EMIC2. These courses are an essential part of MRP, and teaching them effectively is key to helping participants fully benefit from the courses and retreats that follow. By mastering these courses, students will gain a deeper understanding of MRP and be well-prepared to help others on their mindfulness journey.

Self-study and personal guidance

During your Mindfulness Teacher Training, one of our MRP Teachers of Masters will guide you. They focus on two aspects:

– First, they help you increase your theoretical knowledge and teach you to master the most effective mindfulness techniques.

– Second, they will help you overcome your personal challenges.

To become a good teacher, you must progress in both your personal growth and theoretical knowledge. To achieve this, all students have 9 individual sessions with their teacher to discuss their progress, personal development, understanding of the study materials, next steps, and any questions you might have at that point.

For personal questions and urgent matters between these sessions, you can contact your teacher by email. Students are encouraged to use the Student Community on our online platform for mindfulnessΒ for general questions. Using the Student Community can help other students who may have the same question(s) as you.

We expect you to work independently with the materials offered in the Teacher Training study modules on our online platform for mindfulness.

Duration of the training

The Mindfulness Teacher Training takes a total of three years. After completing your first year, you decide if you want to continue with the second and third year. The training program takes longer than other courses, such as the MBSR, where you will learn to guide only one course of eight weeks.

The IMI’s Teacher Training allows you to guide multiple courses, retreats, one-on-one sessions, or even your own students.

Requirements to start

You do not need to have followed any specific previous education to start the Mindfulness Teacher Training. However, we do see that students who have studied at the Higher Professional Education level generally experience fewer difficulties than undergrad students. However, in the end, it is more important that you are motivated to learn, eager to help others, and willing to devote the necessary time to your education.

After your registration and payment for the first study year, we will contact you to plan your first personal guided session. In preparation for this session, we will send you some questions to answer so that we can get a clear picture of you as a person and where you stand. In addition, we ask you to draw up a list of personal goals and questions you want to discuss during the session.

Tests and exams

Each year, you will take several theoretical tests to test your knowledge. As part of your exam, you will also guide the pre-MRP EMIC courses and/or MRP retreats. For example, for your first year you will guide the introductory mindfulness courses EMIC1 – The Four Foundations of Mindfulness and EMIC2 – Mindfulness in Everyday Life.

Your teacher will assess your guidance during these courses as part of your exam. The way you supervise the courses will determine whether you pass or not. Taking tests and exams ensures quality and a high level. So after each academic year, you are ready to get started.

Alternatively, you could choose to follow the example of the Inner Mind Institute and offer introductory courses on a donation basis. While this approach may be less certain in terms of income, it allows you to reach more people and contribute to the spread of MRP globally. Regardless of which option you choose, becoming an MRP Trainer is a great way to help others and earn money at the same time.
