This unique course stands out from other mindfulness programs and is suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners. As the first of a series of three 7-week courses, The Four Foundations of Mindfulness provides you with the latest insights into mindfulness and teaches you several powerful mindfulness techniques.

As part of this first stepping stone into mindfulness and the Mind Retreat Program (MRP), you will explore the Four Foundations—the body, sensations, moods, and wisdom—and how to integrate them into your mindfulness practice, so that you can free yourself from everyday challenges and deeper rooted physical pains and mental problems, such as stress, a busy mind, and anxiety.

The Four Foundations of Mindfulness is the initial step in Pre-MRP’s three-part program, designed to help you become more present, get rid of bad habits, addictions & problems, and discover your path towards the real essence of mindfulness, or enlightenment.

About Pre-MRP1 – The Four Foundations of Mindfulness

Discover the Inner Mind Institute and the techniques and philosophy from the Mind Retreat Program (MRP) with Pre-MRP1 – The Four Foundations of Mindfulness, the first of three introductory courses designed to learn all about the real essence of mindfulness.

Over the course of seven weeks, The Four Foundations of Mindfulness not only provides you with an introduction to mindfulness but also helps you master the first three powerful breathing techniques (B3, B2, and B1), the four mindfulness postures, and the Four Foundations of Mindfulness—body, sensations, moods, and wisdom. This provides you with a solid foundation for your mindfulness practice and helps you stay in the present and overcome your problems and challenges.

Pre-MRP Introductory Mindfulness Courses

Upon completion of Pre-MRP1, you can continue your mindfulness journey with Pre-MRP2 and Pre-MRP3. In Pre-MRP2 – Mindfulness in Everyday Life, you’ll learn to apply your mindfulness techniques to your daily activities, while Pre-MRP3 – The Mindfulness Code will deepen your awareness of mindfulness and help you develop a more profound mindfulness practice.

Course program

During Pre-MRP1 – The Four Foundations of Mindfulness, you will receive an introduction to the origins of mindfulness and learn three powerful mindfulness breathing techniques, the four postures of mindfulness, and the Four Foundations—body, sensations, moods, and wisdom. After this course, you will possess over an ever-present homebase and two additional breathing techniques to regulate and help you deal with distractions, overthinking, self-doubt, fears, and past or present events.

Guidance by Master Niels

Master Niels
Niels de Stürler Boekwijt is the founder of the Inner Mind Institute. In 2020, Master Niels practiced as a Buddhist monk in Thailand. He guided retreats in Thailand and The Netherlands in previous years, organized by the Inner Mind Institute. Now, Master Niels teaches many students online during live and on-demand courses.

Since 2010 Master Niels has traveled multiple times to Lampung, Thailand, to expand his knowledge about mindfulness, eventually becoming a monk for the first time in 2015. In 2020, Master Niels lived as a Buddhist monk for one full year to finish his mastership. His ultimate goal was to find enlightenment and to spread his knowledge to his students.

Daniel (MRP Trainer in training)
Daniel is a dedicated student of Master Niels and has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for four years. Guiding Pre-MRP1 is part of Daniel’s exam to become a certified MRP Trainer. Although he is yet to receive his certification, Daniel has already proven to have an extensive understanding of MRP and The Mindfulness Code. In addition, in February of this year, Daniel completed an intensive 7-day Essential Mind Retreat Program in a monastery in Thailand.

Working as an osteopath in his daily life, it is Daniel’s goal to help his patients improve their overall health and well-being by supporting their body’s natural healing process. By integrating his mindfulness practice with osteopathy, Daniel takes a more comprehensive and holistic approach to treating both the physical and mental aspects of health and well-being.

Who can join?

If you are new to mindfulness or the Inner Mind Institute’s Mind Retreat Program and want to learn all about the real essence of mindfulness and want to learn to become present and take on your problems and challenges, this 7-week online course is for you! Even when you are already an advanced mindfulness practitioner, you will still learn new techniques and come to new and deeper insights during your meditations, leading to a greater focus, overcoming your problems and challenges, and getting closer to enlightenment.

Pre-MRP1 – The Four Foundations of Mindfulness is the first of a series of  three 7-week introductory mindfulness courses. The pre-MRP courses prepare you to take your mindfulness next level with the Mind Retreat Program (MRP).

You can sign up for this course by filling in the registration form above. Because this course is offered on a donation basis, you can already make your donation through the registration form. However, it is also possible to make a donation during or after completing the course.

Pre-MRP1 – The Four Foundations of Mindfulness is available on a donation basis. Making a donation is not mandatory to start the course, but by making a donation of any amount, you help the Inner Mind Institute in its mission to spread mindfulness and the Mind Retreat Program globally and help as many people as we possibly can.

If this course is given on a day or time that doesn’t fit your schedule, you can also take this course on-demand. All of the Inner Mind Institute’s pre-MRP courses are available for only EUR 10 per month within our IMI Plus subscription.

It’s the Inner Mind Institute’s goal to spread our knowledge about mindfulness to as many people as possible. That’s why we choose to give this introductory course on a donation basis. You can make a donation of any amount before, during, or upon completing this course.

Sessions during Pre-MRP1 – The Four Foundations of Mindfulness take place on Zoom. Upon your registration, you will receive an email with a link to join the live sessions on Zoom. With Zoom, you can easily watch the session in your preferred browser on desktop, tablet, or smartphone.

Our introductory course is an excellent course if you are new to mindfulness. However, we believe that everyone from a beginner to an advanced practitioner can benefit their mindfulness practice from these techniques and come to deeper insights, especially since the powerful Mind Retreat Program (MRP) is still fairly unknown in the West.

Yes, you can take this 7-week introductory course on our online platform for mindfulness at any moment that suits you. Although you have the liberty to practice at your own pace, we advise you to not follow more than one session per week, so that you have enough time to practice and master all of your new techniques.

Of course, you can always take more time for a session if you feel you need to.

Yes, we offer all of the sessions of Pre-MRP1 – The Four Foundations of Mindfulness, as well as the entire courses of Pre-MRP2 and Pre-MRP3, as part of our IMI Plus subscription.
